He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Shall I guide you to that by which Allah erases sins and increases good deeds?"They said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Performing ablution thoroughly despite difficulties, taking many steps to the mosques, and waiting for the next prayer after completing one."In another narration there is this addition, "There is not a man among you who leaves his house in a state of purification, prays the prayer with the Muslims, then sits in his place waiting for the next prayer, except that the angels say, 'O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, have mercy on him.'When you stand for prayer, straighten your rows, align them properly, and close the gaps, for I see you from behind my back. When your imam says, 'Allahu Akbar,' say, 'Allahu Akbar.' When he bows, then bow. When he says, 'Allah hears the one who praises Him,' say, 'O Allah, our Lord, to You belongs all praise.'The best of the men's rows is the front row and the worst is the last, while the best of the women's rows is the last and the worst is the front.Company of women, when the men prostrate, lower your gaze so that you do not see the private parts of the men due to the narrowness of their lower garments."
Ibn Majah (427) narrated it from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, and it is in Musannaf (7/1). He said, Yahya bin Abu Kathir narrated to us, he said, Zuhayr bin Muhammad narrated to us, from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Saeed Khudri, and he related it.The second narration is with Imam Ahmad (10994). He narrated it from Abu Amir Abdul-Malik bin Amr, who said, Zuhayr bin Muhammad narrated to us, with the same wording. Ibn Khuzayma (177) holds that this text is well known with this chain. Its chain is hasan because of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, for his hadith is hasan so long as he does not contradict others, and this hadith has been narrated both at length and in abridged form.It will come again in the Book of Prayer, in the chapter on what has been said about the merit of the first row.
