The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting while two ewes were grazing. One of them butted the other and caused her to miscarry. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed.He was asked, "What makes you laugh, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "I am amazed at her. By the One in whose hand is my soul, she will be made to answer for it on the Day of Resurrection."
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان جالسا، وشاتان تعتلفان، فنطحت إحداهما الأخرى، فأجهضتها، قال: فضحك رسول الله ﷺ، فقيل له: ما يضحكك يا رسول الله؟ قال: عجبت لها، والذي نفسي بيده، ليقادن لها يوم القيامة.
Abdullah bin Ahmad narrated it in the Musnad of his father (21511), saying, I found this hadith in my father's book, written in his own hand, "Ubaydullah bin Muhammad narrated to us, Hammad bin Salama informed us, Layth informed us, from Abdul-Rahman bin Tharwan, from Huzayll bin Shurahbil, from Abu Dharr," and he related it.In this chain is Layth, who is Ibn Abu Salim, weak in memory. However, he is strengthened by what Ahmad narrated (21438) through the route of Sulayman Amash, from Mundhir bin Yaala Thawri, from some of his shaykhs, from Abu Dharr, relating something similar. The shaykhs of Mundhir Thawri were not named, and they are a group of the Tabiin, so their anonymity is overlooked. In any case, with both chains combined, the hadith becomes hasan.
