A man said to Ibn Umar, "How did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ describe the private conversation on the Day of Judgment?"He replied, "I heard him say, 'The believer will be drawn near to his Lord on the Day of Judgment until He places His shelter over him and makes him acknowledge his sins. He will ask, "Do you recognize this sin?" The believer will answer, "Yes, my Lord, I recognize it." Allah will say, "I concealed it for you in the worldly life, and today I forgive it for you." Then he will be given the record of his good deeds. As for the disbelievers and hypocrites, they will be called out before all of creation, 'These are the ones who lied against Allah.'"'"
Bukhari related it in the Tafsir chapter (4685), and Muslim in the Repentance chapter (2768), both of them by way of Hisham Dastawai, from Qatada, from Safwan bin Mihraz, who said, "A man said to Ibn Umar," and then he mentioned it. The wording given here is that of Muslim.
