Mabad bin Hilal Anazi reported,

We set out to visit Anas bin Malik, seeking Thabit's intercession on our behalf. We reached him while he was performing the forenoon prayer. Thabit asked permission for us to enter, and we came in to find him seated. He had Thabit sit beside him on his bed.Thabit said to him, "Abu Hamza, your brothers from the people of Basra are asking you to relate to them the hadith of intercession."Anas said, "Muhammad ﷺ told us," and he then mentioned those who have in their hearts the weight of a grain of wheat or barley of faith, then those who have in their hearts the weight of a grain of mustard seed, then those who have in their hearts less than the weight of a mustard seed of faith. This was the hadith of Anas as he reported it to us.We left his presence, and when we reached the back of the cemetery, we said, "Why don't we stop by al-Hasan and greet him?" He was at that time hiding in the house of Abu Khalifa. We went in to him and greeted him, then said, "Abu Saeed, we have just come from your brother Abu Hamza, and we have never heard a hadith on intercession like the one he told us."He said, "Go on!"So we related the hadith to him.He said, "Go on!"We said, "He told us no more than that."He said, "He related this hadith to us twenty years ago, when he was at the height of his powers, and he has indeed left something out. I do not know whether the old man has forgotten or whether he disliked telling you, lest you rely on it."We said to him, "Tell us."He laughed and said, "Man was created of haste" [Anbiya 21:37]. I only mentioned this to you because I intended to relate it to you."Then I will return to my Lord a fourth time and praise Him with those same praises, then I will fall down prostrate before Him. It will be said to me, 'Muhammad, raise your head. Speak, you will be heard. Ask, you will be granted. Intercede, your intercession will be accepted.'I will say, 'My Lord, give me leave concerning whoever has said, There is no god but Allah.'He will say, 'That is not for you,' or He said, 'That is not up to you, but by My might, My majesty, My greatness, and My grandeur, I shall surely bring out whoever has said, There is no god but Allah.'"
