The Prophet ﷺ said, "On the Day of Resurrection, people will be made to cross the Sirat, and the two sides of the Sirat will hurl them down as moths are hurled into the fire. Then Allah, by His mercy, will save whom He wills. Then permission will be granted to the angels, the prophets, and the martyrs to intercede, and they will intercede and bring people out, and they will intercede and bring people out, and they will intercede and bring people out."Affan once added, "And they will intercede and bring out anyone in whose heart there is the weight of an atom of faith."
Reported by Ahmad (20440), Bazzar (3671), Tabarani in Al-Saghir (929), and Ibn Abu Asim in Al-Sunnah (838), all of them from the hadith of Affan bin Muslim, who said, Hammad bin Zayd narrated to us, who said, I heard Abu Sulayman Asri, who said, Uqba bin Sahban narrated to us, from Abu Bakra, from the Prophet ﷺ, and he mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Saeed bin Zayd, who is the brother of Hammad bin Zayd, for his hadith is hasan. Abu Sulayman Asri was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Main, as Ibn Abu Hatim reported in Al-Jarh wal-Tadil (9/380), and Dulabi named him in Al-Kuna (195/1) as Kaab bin Shabib. He also reported the hadith through another route from Saeed bin Zayd with a chain of transmission like it.Bazzar said, "We do not know of it being reported with this wording except by Abu Bakra, and its narrators are approved." Haythami likewise deemed its narrators sahih in Al-Majma (359/10).See the remaining hadiths on intercession in the book on faith.
