The Prophet ﷺ woke up from sleep with his face flushed, saying, "There is no god but Allah. Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has drawn near. Today an opening like this has been made in the barrier of Gog and Magog." Sufyan made a circle with his fingers indicating ninety or one hundred.Someone asked, "Will we be destroyed while there are still righteous people among us?"He replied, "Yes, when wickedness becomes widespread."
استيقظ النبي ﷺ من النوم محمرا وجهه يقول: لا إله إلا الله، ويل للعرب، من شر قد اقترب، فتح اليوم من ردم يأجوج ومأجوج مثل هذه، - وعقد سفيان تسعين أو مائة- قيل: أنهلك، وفينا الصالحون؟ قال: نعم، إذا كثر الخبث.
Bukhari narrated it in Fitan (7059), and Muslim narrated it in Fitan and the Signs of the Hour (2880), both through Sufyan bin Uyayna, who heard Zuhri, from Urwa, from Zaynab bint Umm Salama, from Umm Habiba, from Zaynab bint Jahsh, who mentioned it. The wording given is Bukhari's, and Muslim's version has, "Sufyan formed the number ten with his hand."
