Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ablution, he would run water through his beard.
إن رسول الله ﷺ كان إذا توضأ خلل لحيته بالماء.
Ahmad narrated it (25970 and 25971) through two paths from Umar bin Abu Wahb, and Ishaq narrated it in his Musnad (1371) from Abdul-Samad bin Abdul-Warith, from Umar bin Abu Wahb al-Kharai, who said, Musa bin Tharwan narrated to us, from Talha bin Ubaydullah bin Kurayz, from Ayesha, and she mentioned the hadith.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Umar bin Abu Wahb. Ibn Abu Hatim gave his biography in Jarh wal-Tadil (6/140) and cited that Ibn Main considered him trustworthy. Ahmad said, "I know of no harm in him." Abu Hatim said, "There is no harm in him."Musa bin Tharwan, with a th, though it is also said with an f in place of the th, Ajli, the teacher, of Basra, is trustworthy and one of the narrators of Sahih Muslim.Haythami mentioned it in Majma al-Zawaid (2351) and said, "Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are deemed trustworthy." And the Hafiz graded its chain of transmission hasan in Talkhis (86/1).
