The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Hour will not come until people boast about their mosques."In another wording, "Among the signs of the Hour is that people will boast about their mosques."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: لا تقوم الساعة حتى يتباهى الناس في المساجد. وفي لفظ: من أشراط الساعة أن يتباهى الناس في المساجد.
In another wording, "One of the signs of the Hour is that people will vie with one another over mosques." Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (1322, 1323), as did Ibn Hibban (1614, 6760), all of them through routes from Hammad bin Salama, from Ayub, from Abu Qilaba, from Anas, who narrated it.The discussion of this has been laid out at length in the section on prayer, in the chapters on mosques. Anas said, "They vie with one another over them, then hardly maintain them." Sahih Bukhari (446).
