The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Before the Hour there will be deceptive years, in which the truthful one will be disbelieved and the liar believed, the trustworthy one will be considered treacherous and the treacherous one entrusted, and the Ruwaybidah will speak."In another wording, "And the Ruwaybidah will give his opinion."
Ahmad (8459) narrated it from Yunus and Siraj, who said, Fulayh narrated to us, from Saeed bin Ubayd bin Sibaq, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it. Its isnad is hasan because of Fulayh, who is Ibn Sulayman Khuzai, about whom there is some discussion, though the closer view is that his hadith is graded hasan unless a mistake becomes evident in it.It has another route. Ibn Majah (4036), Ahmad (7912), and Hakim (4/465-466) all narrated it through Yazid bin Harun, who said, Abdul-Malik bin Qudama Jumahi narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq bin Abu Furat, from Saeed bin Abu Saeed Maqburi, from his father (though in Ibn Majah's version "from his father" does not appear), from Abu Hurairah, and he related something similar. He added, it was asked, "And what is the ruwaybida, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "The foolish man who speaks concerning the affairs of the general public." Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in isnad." I say, in its isnad is Abdul-Malik bin Qudama Jumahi, who is daif, and Ishaq bin Abu Furat, who is unknown. The two routes strengthen each other, since neither of them contains a narrator accused of fabrication.Of similar meaning is what has been narrated from Anas bin Malik, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Before Dajjal there will be deceptive years, in which the truthful one will be disbelieved and the liar will be believed, in which the trustworthy one will be betrayed and the treacherous one will be trusted, and in which the ruwaybida will speak." It was asked, "And what is the ruwaybida?" He said, "The vile little sinner who speaks concerning the affairs of the general public."Ahmad (13298) narrated it from Abu Jafar Madaini, who is Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, Abbad bin Awwam narrated to us, who said, Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Anas bin Malik, who said, and he related it. Muhammad bin Ishaq did not state explicitly that he heard it directly from Muhammad bin Munkadir, and there is also disagreement over his report. Ahmad (13299), his son Abdullah in his additions, and Abu Yaala (3715) all narrated it through routes from Abdullah bin Idris, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, from Abdullah bin Dinar, who said, I heard Anas bin Malik say, and he related it.Muhammad bin Ishaq stated explicitly that he heard it directly, as found in Bazzar, but Ibn Main said, "We have not heard from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Anas, anything except the hadith that Muhammad bin Ishaq narrates." Ibn Adi said, "He means the hadith of the ruwaybida." Abu Hatim mentioned that in some versions it reads, "from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Abu Azhar, from Anas," then he said, "and I do not know who Abu Azhar is." Abu Zura also found fault with it. See Ilal Ibn Abu Hatim (2792) and Ajwibat Abu Zura Razi (2/329-331).
