The Prophet ﷺ performed ablution. He rinsed his mouth three times, sniffed water into his nose three times, washed his face three times, washed his hands three times, wiped over his head, and washed his feet.
أن النبي ﷺ توضأ، فمضمض ثلاثا، واستنشق ثلاثا، وغسل وجهه ثلاثا، وغسل يديه ثلاثا، ومسح برأسه، ووضا قدميه.
Imam Ahmad (8577) and Tabarani in Al-Awsat, Majma Bahrain, both narrated it, both from Hammam, from Amir, meaning Al-Ahwal, from Ataa, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned the hadith. Haythami said in Majma al-Zawaid (1/230), "Tabarani narrated it in Al-Awsat with a chain whose narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. Its chain is hasan because of Amir, who is Ibn Abdul-Wahid Al-Ahwal Al-Basri. Although he is among the narrators of Muslim, there was disagreement about him. Abu Hatim said, 'Trustworthy, no harm in him.' Ibn Adi said, 'I see no harm in his narrations.' Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. Imam Ahmad said, 'His hadith amounts to nothing.' Nasai said, 'He is not strong.' The summary regarding him, as Hafiz said, is 'Truthful, but he makes mistakes.'"It appears that he did not make a mistake in narrating this particular hadith, since trustworthy narrators agree with him, and the narration that the Prophet ﷺ performed wudu three times each has reached the level of mass transmission, as has already passed.Ibn Majah (415) also narrated it in summary form, that the Prophet ﷺ performed wudu three times each. He narrated it from Abu Kurayb, who said, Khalid bin Hayan narrated to us, from Salim Abu Muhajir, from Maymun bin Mihran, from Ayesha and Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet ﷺ performed wudu three times each.Abu Yaala also narrated it through this same route in his Musnad (4676, edited by Athari). Khalid bin Hayan, who is Al-Raqqi, was declared trustworthy by Ibn Main. Ahmad said, "No harm in him." Nasai said, "There is no harm in him." Ibn Saad said, "He was trustworthy and firm." So he does not fall below the rank of "truthful."
