Tabarani narrated it in al-Kabir (14559), and Hakim (4/554), both through routes from Yahya bin Hamza, who said, "Amr bin Qays Kindi narrated to me," and then he related it. Its isnad is sahih. Haythami said in al-Majma (7/326), "Tabarani narrated it, and its men are the men of sahih."His saying "Hawwarin," with a damma on the ha and a doubled waw, refers to a village about 56 kilometers from Tadmur toward Hims, and Yazid bin Muawiya died there in the year 64 AH.Darimi narrated in his Sunan (493) from Walid bin Hisham, who said, "Harith bin Yazid Himsi narrated to us," from Amr bin Qays, who said, "I went with my father to Yazid bin Muawiya at Hawwarin, when Muawiya died, to console him and congratulate him on the caliphate. There was a man in its mosque saying, 'Indeed, among the signs of the Hour is that the wicked will be raised up and the good will be put down. Indeed, among the signs of the Hour is that speech will become prominent while deeds will be hidden away. Indeed, among the signs of the Hour is that the duplicate will be recited, and no one will be found to change it.' He was asked, 'What is the duplicate?' He said, 'Whatever was written as a book other than the Quran. So hold fast to the Quran, for through it you are guided, by it you will be recompensed, and about it you will be questioned.'I did not know who the man was. I later related this hadith at Hims, and a man among the people said to me, 'Do you not know him?' I said, 'No.' He said, 'That was Abdullah bin Amr.'"This is how Harith bin Yazid Himsi narrated it as mawquf, and Abu Hatim said of him, "unknown." However, a group followed him in narrating it as mawquf, among them Muawiya bin Salih with Ibn Abu Shayba in al-Musannaf (38545), Ismail bin Ayyash with Qasim bin Sallam in Fadail al-Quran (30), and Uzai with Hakim in al-Mustadrak (4/554–555). So the mawquf version is more correct.Regarding his saying "the duplicate," Ibn Athir said, "It is said that the duplicate refers to the rabbis of Banu Israil after Musa composing a book among themselves according to what they wanted, other than the Book of Allah. That is the duplicate." It seems that Ibn Amr disliked taking knowledge from the People of the Book.
