The Prophet ﷺ said, "You will surely follow the ways of those who came before you, span by span and cubit by cubit, so much so that if one of them entered a lizard's hole, you would follow him in."The companions asked, "Messenger of Allah, do you mean the Jews and the Christians?"He replied, "Who else?"
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لتتبعن سنن من كان قبلكم شبرا بشبر وذراعا بذراع، حتى لو دخل أحدهم جحر ضب لاتبعتموه، قالوا: يا رسول الله من اليهود والنصارى؟ قال: فمن إذا؟
Ibn Abu Asim narrated it in Sunnah (73), and Muhammad Marwazi in Sunnah (36), both through Abu Hazim, from Amr bin Shuayb, from his father, from his grandfather, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Amr bin Shuayb.
