The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came one day from al-Aliyah, and as he passed by the mosque of Banu Muawiya, he entered it and prayed two units of prayer. We prayed along with him, and he supplicated to his Lord at length. Then he turned to us and said ﷺ, "I asked my Lord for three things, and He granted me two and withheld one. I asked my Lord not to destroy my community through famine, and He granted it to me. I asked Him not to destroy my community through drowning, and He granted it to me. And I asked Him not to let their violence be among themselves, but He withheld that from me."
Muslim reported it in "Fitan and the Signs of the Last Hour" (2890), from Abdullah bin Numayr, who said, our father narrated to us, who said, Uthman bin Hakeem narrated to us, who said, Amir bin Saad informed me, from his father, and he related it.His saying, "the masjid of the sons of Muawiya," is known today as Masjid al-Ijabah, east of Masjid Nabawi. And Muawiya is Ibn Malik bin Najjar Khazraji.
