The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while facing the east, said, "Indeed, tribulation is here. Indeed, tribulation is here. Indeed, tribulation is here, from where the horn of Satan rises."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: وهو مستقبل المشرق: ها إن الفتنة ههنا، ها إن الفتنة ههنا ها إن الفتنة ها هنا من حيث يطلع قرن الشيطان.
Bukhari narrated it in Fitan (7092), and Muslim in Fitan (2905:47), both through Ibn Shihab Zuhri, from Salim bin Abdullah, from his father, as mentioned above. The wording given is Muslim's, and Bukhari's wording is similar except that it contains uncertainty about whether it says "the horn of Shaytan" or "the horn of the sun."However, the two sheikhs (Bukhari and Muslim) also narrated it through Layth, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and in it, it says "the horn of Shaytan" without any uncertainty. Muslim also narrated it (2905:48) through Ikrima bin Ammar, from Salim, from Ibn Umar, as a saying of the Prophet, "The head of disbelief is from over there, from where the horn of Shaytan rises," meaning the east.
