The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will be trials, at whose gates stand callers to the Hellfire. To die while biting onto the trunk of a tree is better for you than to follow any one of them."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: تكون فتن، على أبوابها دعاة إلى النار، فأن تموت وأنت عاض على جذل شجرة خير لك من أن تتبع أحدا منهم.
Ibn Majah (3981) narrated it from Muhammad bin Umar bin Ali Muqaddami, who said, Abu Amir Khazzaz narrated to us, from Humayd bin Hilal, from Abdul-Rahman bin Qurt, from Huzaifa, and he mentioned it. Abdul-Rahman bin Qurt is unknown, as stated in Taqrib, but he has been corroborated in the preceding chains, both in isnad and in text.
