Umar said, "Come closer, people of Mudar. By Allah, you will not cease to persecute and kill every believer until Allah, His angels, and the believers strike you down until you cannot defend even the floor of a small valley."They asked, "Why then do you bring us close, when we are as you describe?"He replied, "Among you is the master of the children of Adam, and among you are forerunners like the forerunners of racehorses."
ادنوا يا معشر مضر، فوالله لا تزالون بكل مؤمن تفتنونه وتقتلونه حتى يضربكم الله وملائكته والمؤمنون حتى لا تمنعوا بطن تلعة، قالوا: فلم تدنينا ونحن كذلك؟ قال: إن منكم سيد ولد آدم، وإن منكم سوابق كسوابق الخيل.

Narrated by Ibn Abu Shayba (38556) and Bazzar (2858), both from the hadith of Yazid bin Harun, from Awwam bin Hawshab, who said, "Mansur bin Mutamir told me," from Rubai, from Huzaifa, who mentioned it. Its chain is sahih, and even though some narrators stopped it at the companion, the original ruling is that it is to be treated as a raised report (marfu).
