I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Tell me, if one of you had a river flowing at his doorstep in which he bathed five times a day, would any of his dirt remain?"They replied, "None at all."He said, "Such is the prayer. It washes away sins just as water washes away dirt."
Ibn Majah (1397) narrated it, saying, Abdullah bin Abu Ziyad told us, Yaqub bin Ibrahim bin Saad told us, the nephew of Ibn Shihab told me, from his uncle, Salih bin Abdullah bin Abu Farwa told me, that Amir bin Saad informed him, saying, I heard Aban bin Uthman say, Uthman said, and he related the hadith. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Salih bin Abdullah bin Abu Farwa. Abbas Duri reported from Ibn Main, Salih bin Abdullah bin Abu Farwa and his brothers are reliable, except Ishaq. Abu Jafar Tabari said in Tahdheeb, He is not known among the people of transmission according to them. Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat (6/462) and said, He narrates from Amir bin Saad bin Abu Waqqas, and Zuhri narrates from him, he died in the year 120.I say, someone like him would be described as "truthful."The nephew of Ibn Shihab is Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muslim bin Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Shihab Zuhri, and his uncle is Muhammad bin Muslim bin Shihab, the Imam.
