The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Having a good opinion of Allah is part of the excellence of worshipping Allah."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن حسن الظن بالله من حسن عبادة الله.
Reported by Abu Dawud (4993), Tirmidhi (3604/5), Ahmad (7956), and Ibn Hibban (631), all through various routes from Muhammad bin Wasi, from Sumayr, or Shutayr, bin Nahar Abdi, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Shutayr, or Sumayr, bin Nahar, from whom Muhammad bin Wasi narrated, and Ibn Hibban rated him trustworthy. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Muslim." But this is not correct, for Muslim did not narrate from Shutayr or Sumayr bin Nahar.Abu Nadra said, "He was among the first to give exhortations in this masjid" (meaning the masjid of Basra), which removes him from the category of being unknown. That is why Ibn Hajar said, "Saduq (truthful)."
