He came to me and recognized me when he saw me, for he used to see me before the verse of hijab was revealed. I awoke at his utterance of "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiun" when he recognized me, and I covered my face with my jilbab.
في حديث الإفك حين جاءها صفوان بن المعطل.
فأتاني فعرفني حين رآني، وكان يراني قبل الحجاب، فاستيقظت باسترجاعه حين عرفني، فخمرت وجهي بجلبابي.
Bukhari narrated it in tafsir (4750), and Muslim in Repentance (2770), both from the hadith of Yunus bin Yazid, from Zuhri, who said, "Urwa bin Zubayr, Saeed bin Musayab, Alqama bin Waqqas, and Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utba bin Masud informed me, from the hadith of Ayesha," and he related it.
