The Prophet ﷺ said, "The prayer of any of you is not accepted when he has broken his ablution until he performs ablution again."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لا تقبل صلاة أحدكم إذا أحدث حتى يتوضأ.
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Wudu (135) and in the Book of Legal Tricks (6954), and Muslim reported it in the Book of Purification (225). In a version narrated by Bukhari, a man from Hadramawt said, "What is meant by hadath, O Abu Hurairah?" He said, "Passing wind, silently or audibly."
