The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While a man was walking arrogantly in two garments, Allah caused the earth to swallow him, and he will keep sinking through it until the Day of Resurrection."A young man, whom Abu Hurairah named, was wearing a fine outfit and said to him, "Abu Hurairah, was it like this that the young man who was swallowed up walked?" Then he struck the ground with his hand, only to stumble so violently that he nearly broke himself.Abu Hurairah said, "Down on his nostrils and mouth! 'Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers' [Hijr 15:95]."
Darimi (441) and Harawi in Dhamm al-Kalam (643) both narrated it through Layth bin Saad, who said, "Ibn Ajlan told me, from his father, from Abu Hurairah," and he related it.Its chain is hasan because of Ibn Ajlan and his father, for the two of them are graded hasan in hadith.
