The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the son of Adam had a valley of gold, he would wish for two valleys. Nothing will fill his mouth except the dust of the grave, and Allah turns in mercy to whoever turns to Him in repentance."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: لو أن لابن آدم واديا من ذهب أحب أن يكون له واديان، ولن يملأ فاه إلا التراب، ويتوب الله على من تاب.
Bukhari related it in the chapter on Riqaq (6439), and Muslim in the chapter on zakat (1048:117), both of them through Zuhri, from Anas, as mentioned. Bukhari also said (6440), Abu Walid told us, Hammad bin Salama narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, from Ubayy, who said, "We used to consider this part of the Quran, until "Competition in worldly increase diverted you" [Takathur 102:1] was revealed." This was merely Ubayy's own supposition.
