He reported from his father, from his grandfather, that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "None of you should take his brother's belongings, neither in jest nor in earnest. Whoever takes his brother's stick must return it."
عن أبيه، عن جده أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول: لا يأخذن أحدكم متاع أخيه لاعبا ولا جادا، ومن أخذ عصا أخيه فليردها.
Reported by Abu Dawud (5003), Tirmidhi (2160), Ahmad (17940), and Hakim (3/637), all from the hadith of Ibn Abu Dhib, from Abdullah bin Saaib bin Yazid, from his father, from his grandfather, who related it. Its chain is sahih.Saaib bin Yazid met the Prophet ﷺ and reported one hadith from him, as Hakim said.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, we know it only from the hadith of Ibn Abu Dhib. Saaib bin Yazid was a companion, he heard hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ while he was a boy, and the Prophet ﷺ passed away when he was seven years old. His father Yazid bin Saeed has hadiths, he was among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ and reported from the Prophet ﷺ. Saaib bin Yazid was the son of Namir's sister."
