Ayesha narrated that Abdullah bin Zubayr said, regarding a sale or a gift that Ayesha had given, "By Allah, Ayesha must stop, or else I shall place her under interdiction."She asked, "Did he really say this?"They replied, "Yes."She said, "I make a vow to Allah that I will never speak to Ibn Zubayr again."When the estrangement grew long, Ibn Zubayr sought intercessors to plead with her, but she said, "No, by Allah, I will never accept any intercession on his behalf, nor will I break my vow."When this dragged on for Ibn Zubayr, he spoke to Miswar bin Makhrama and Abdul-Rahman bin Aswad bin Abd Yaghuth, both from Banu Zuhra, and said to them, "I implore you both by Allah to bring me into Ayesha's presence, for it is not lawful for her to vow to cut me off."So Miswar and Abdul-Rahman came along with him, wrapped in their cloaks, until they sought permission to enter Ayesha's home. They said, "Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. May we come in?"Ayesha said, "Come in."They asked, "All of us?"She replied, "Yes, all of you come in," not knowing that Ibn Zubayr was with them.When they entered, Ibn Zubayr slipped behind the curtain and embraced Ayesha, beseeching her with tears, while Miswar and Abdul-Rahman pleaded with her to speak to him and accept his apology, saying, "The Prophet ﷺ forbade what you well know about estrangement, for it is not lawful for a Muslim to shun his brother for more than three nights."When they pressed Ayesha hard with reminders and warnings of sin, she began reminding them of her vow and weeping, saying, "I have made a vow, and a vow is a grave matter."They kept urging her until she spoke to Ibn Zubayr, and to expiate that vow she freed forty slaves. After that, whenever she would recall her vow, she would weep until her tears soaked her veil.
- أن عائشة حدثت: أن عبد الله بن الزبير قال في بيع أو عطاء أعطته عائشة: والله لتنتهين عائشة أو لأحجرن عليها، فقالت: أهو قال هذا؟ قالوا: نعم، قالت: هو الله علي نذر أن لا أكلم ابن الزبير أبدا. فاستشفع ابن الزبير إليها، حين طالت الهجرة، فقالت: لا والله، لا أشفع فيه أبدا، ولا أتحنث إلى نذري. فلما طال ذلك على ابن الزبير كلم المسور بن مخرمة وعبد الرحمن بن الأسود بن عبد يغوث- وهما من بني زهرة- وقال لهما: أنشد كما بالله لما أدخلتماني على عائشة؛ فإنها لا يحل لها أن تنذر قطيعتي فأقبل به المسور وعبد الرحمن مشتملين بأرديتهما، حتى استأذنا على عائشة، فقالا: السلام عليك ورحمة الله بركاته أ ندخل؟ قالت عائشة: ادخلوا، قالوا: كلنا؟ قالت: نعم، ادخلوا كلكم، ولا تعلم أن معهما ابن الزبير، فلما دخلوا دخل ابن الزبيرالحجاب، فاعتنق عائشة وطفق يناشدها ويبكي، وطفق المسور وعبد الرحمن يناشدانها إلا ما كلمته وقبلت منه، ويقولان: إن النبي ﷺ نهى عما قد علمت من الهجرة؛ فإنه لا يحل لمسلم أن يهجر أخاه فوق ثلاث ليال. فلما أكثروا على عائشة من التذكرة والتحريج طفقت تذكرهما نذرها وتبكي وتقول: إني نذرت، والنذر شديد، فلم يزالا بها حتى كلمت ابن الزبير وأعتقت في نذرها ذلك أربعين رقبة، وكانت تذكرنذرها بعد ذلك فتبكي حتى تبل دموعها خمارها.
