The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the most lying form of speech. Do not spy on one another, do not pry into each other's affairs, do not compete against one another, do not envy one another, do not hate one another, do not turn your backs on one another, and be servants of Allah, brothers to each other."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إياكم والظن، فإن الظن أكذب الحديث، ولا تجسسوا، ولا تحسسوا، ولا تنافسوا، ولا تحاسدوا، ولا تباغضوا، ولا تدابروا، وكونوا عباد الله إخوانا.
Malik reported it in Husn al-Khuluq (15) from Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he related it.Tirmidhi (1988) said, after reporting it via Sufyan, from Abu Zinad with his chain, "I heard Abd bin Humayd mention, on the authority of one of the companions of Sufyan, who said, Sufyan said, 'Suspicion is of two kinds, a sinful suspicion and a suspicion that is not sinful. As for the sinful suspicion, it is when one suspects something and speaks of it. As for the suspicion that is not sinful, it is when one suspects something but does not speak of it.'"
