A man asked permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ, so he said, "Let him in. What a wretched member of his clan he is," or, "What a wretched man of his clan he is."But when the man came in, the Prophet ﷺ spoke gently to him.Ayesha said, "Messenger of Allah, you said about him what you said, and then you spoke gently to him?"He replied, "Ayesha, the worst of people in standing before Allah on the Day of Resurrection is the one whom people abandon, or avoid, to be safe from his foul behavior."
Bukhari narrated it in al-Adab (6054), and Muslim in al-Birr wal-Sila (2591: 73), both through Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Ibn Munkadir, who heard Urwa bin Zubayr say, "Ayesha narrated to me," and he related it.
