The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, this religion is ease, and no one makes it overly burdensome upon himself except that it overwhelms him. So aim for what is right, draw near to it, rejoice in the good news, and seek help through the morning journey, the evening journey, and a portion of the night."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إن الدين يسر، ولن يشاد الدين أحد إلا غلبه، فسددوا، وقاربوا، وأبشروا، واستعينوا بالغدوة والروحة، وشيء من الدلجة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Faith (39), from Abdul-Salam bin Mutahhir, who said, Umar bin Ali narrated to us, from Maen bin Muhammad Ghifari, from Saeed bin Abu Saeed Maqburi, from Abu Hurairah, who said, then he mentioned it.His saying, "No one will overburden himself in religion but it will overcome him," means that no one goes to extremes in religious deeds and abandons gentleness except that he becomes incapable and gives up, and so is overcome.Ibn Munir said, "In this hadith is one of the signs of prophethood, for we have seen, and people before us have seen, that every extremist in religion ends up giving up. The intent is not to prohibit seeking the most complete form of worship, for that is a praiseworthy matter, but rather to prohibit the excess that leads to boredom, or the exaggeration in voluntary acts that results in abandoning what is better. .. .."See Fath al-Bari (1/94).
