The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded the killing of the snake with two white stripes on its back, for it strikes at eyesight and causes miscarriage.
أمر رسول الله ﷺ بقتل ذي الطفيتين، فإنه يلتمس البصر ويصيب الحبل.
Bukhari reported it in the Beginning of Creation (3309), and Muslim in Greetings (2232), both through Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from Ayesha, as I have related it. The wording given here is Muslim's.His saying, "dhut-tufayatayn," with the dad vowelled with a damma and the fa left unvowelled, refers to the two white streaks on the back of the snake.His saying, "abtar" means short-tailed, and it is a type of snake, blue in color, with a severed tail, which no pregnant woman looks at without miscarrying what is in her womb.
