He was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out a messenger. Abdullah bin Abu Bakr said, "I think he said while the people were at their resting place," with the instruction, "No necklace of bowstring, nor any necklace, is to be left on the neck of any camel without being cut off."Yahya said, "I heard Malik say, 'I consider this to be on account of the evil eye.'"
Malik narrated it in the Book of the Description of the Prophet ﷺ (41), from Abdullah bin Abu Bakr, from Abbad bin Tamim, that Abu Bashir Ansari informed him, and he related it.Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Jihad (3005), and Muslim in the Book of Clothing and Adornment (2115: 105), both of them by way of Malik, with the same wording.
