A man cursed a rooster that had crowed in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not curse it, for it calls to prayer."In another narration, "for it wakes people for prayer."
لعن رجل ديكا صاح عند النبي ﷺ، فقال النبي ﷺ: لا تلعنه فإنه يدعو إلى الصلاة. وفي رواية: فإنه يوقظ للصلاة.
Reported by Abu Dawud (5101), and Abdul-Razzaq (20498) and from him Ahmad (17034), all of them through various routes from Salih bin Kaysan, from Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utba, from Zayd bin Khalid Juhani, who said, and then he related it. Its isnad is sahih. There has been disagreement over whether it is connected or disconnected. Daraqutni held that the disconnected version was more likely correct, while others held that the connected version was more likely correct, and the ruling goes to the one who connected it.
