A physician asked the Prophet ﷺ about using a frog in a medicine, and the Prophet ﷺ forbade him from killing it.
أن طبيبا سأل النبي ﷺ عن ضفدع يجعلها في دواء، فنهاه النبي ﷺ عن قتلها.
Reported by Abu Dawud (3871), Nasai (4355), Ahmad (15757), Hakim (4/410–411), and Bayhaqi (9/318), all of them through the route of Ibn Abu Dhib, from Saeed bin Khalid, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abdul-Rahman bin Uthman, who mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan because of Saeed bin Khalid, who is al-Kinani, for his hadith is hasan.Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in isnad." Bayhaqi said, "This is the strongest thing that has been reported concerning the frog."
