Muaz was walking with another man when he picked up a stone from the road.The man asked, "What is this?"Muaz replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever removes a stone from the road has a good deed recorded for him, and whoever has a good deed recorded for him enters Paradise.'"
كان معاذ يمشي ورجل معه، فرفع حجرا من الطريق، فقال: ما هذا؟ فقال: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: من رفع حجرا من الطريق كتبت له حسنة، ومن كتبت له حسنة دخل الجنة.

Bayhaqi related it in Shuab al-Iman (10660) via Muhammad bin Ishaq, meaning Ibn Khuzayma, who said, Ahmad bin Hasan Tirmidhi told us, Muhammad bin Arara told us, Shuba told us, from Abu Fayd, who said, I heard Abu Shayba say, then he related it. Tabarani also related it in al-Kabir (20/101) through another route from Muhammad bin Arara, who said, Shuba told us, with the same wording.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abu Shayba, from whom Abu Fayd narrated, and he is Musa bin Ayub Mahri, along with Balj bin Abdullah Mahri and Junada bin Abu Khalid. Ibn Hibban mentioned him among al-Thiqat, and Abu Zura said, "He is one of the taabiin and his name is not known." al-Jarh wal-Tadil (1841). This means he was known by his kunya.Haythami said in al-Majma (1353), "Tabarani related it, and its narrators are trustworthy." This is supported by what has been related in similar meaning from Abu Darda, Maqil Muzani, and others, though there is some discussion regarding it.
