The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How will you fare, Abdullah, when you are left among the dregs of mankind?"He asked, "What do you mean by that, Messenger of Allah?"The Prophet replied, "That is when their trusts and covenants become corrupted, and they become like this," and he interlaced his fingers. He asked, "What should I do then, Messenger of Allah?"The Prophet answered, "Do what you know to be right, leave what you know to be wrong, attend to your own affairs, and leave aside the affairs of the masses."
Ibn Hibban (5950-5951), Tahawi in Sharh Mushkil (1182-1183), and Tabarani in Al-Awsat (2797) all narrated it through the route of Ala bin Abdul-Rahman, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Ala bin Abdul-Rahman, for he is one whose hadith is hasan.
