I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "People are like a hundred camels. You can hardly find among them a single one fit for riding."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: إنما الناس كالإبل المائة، لا تكاد تجد فيها راحلة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Softening of Hearts (6498), and Muslim in the Book of Righteousness and Maintaining Ties (232:2547), both through the route of Zuhri, from Salim, from Ibn Umar, who said, and he mentioned it.Qurtubi explained the meaning of the hadith, saying, "What fits the comparison is that the generous man, who bears the burdens of people and takes on their responsibilities and relieves their distress, is rare to find, like the sturdy riding camel among the great number of camels."
