Abdullah bin Umar reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Your example and that of the Jews and Christians is like a man who hired laborers and asked, 'Who will work for me until midday for one qirat each?' So the Jews worked for one qirat each. Then the Christians worked for one qirat each. Then you are the ones who work from the afternoon prayer until sunset for two qirats each. The Jews and Christians became angry and said, 'We have done more work yet received less pay.' He asked, 'Have I withheld any of your due from you?' They replied, 'No.' He said, 'That is my bounty, which I bestow upon whom I will.'"

عن عبد الله بن عمر بن الخطاب

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إنما مثلكم واليهود والنصارى كرجل استعمل عمالا، فقال: من يعمل لي إلى نصف النهار على قيراط قيراط؟ فعملت اليهود على قيراط قيراط، ثم عملت النصارى على قيراط قيراط، ثم أنتم الذين تعملون من صلاة العصر إلى مغارب الشمس على قيراطين قيراطين، فغضبت اليهود والنصارى، وقالوا: نحن أكثر عملا وأقل عطاء. قال: هل ظلمتكم من حقكم شيئا؟ قالوا: لا. فقال: فذلك فضلي أوتيه من أشاء.
