Had I not heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Do not wish for death," I would have wished for it.
لولا أني سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: لا تتمنوا الموت لتمنيت.
Bukhari narrated it in Tamanni (7233), and Muslim in Zikr and Dua (2680:11), both through Asim, from Nadr bin Anas, who said, Anas said, and then he mentioned it.We were forbidden from wishing for death, for lifespans are predetermined, and wishing for death does not affect their increase or decrease, but doing so involves an objection to divine decree.
