An Arabi came to the Prophet ﷺ and began to speak. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, some eloquence is enchanting, and some poetry contains wisdom."
جاء أعرابي إلى النبي ﷺ فجعل يتكلم بكلام، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: إن من البيان سحرا، وإن من الشعر حكما.
Reported by Abu Dawud (5011), Tirmidhi (2845), Ibn Majah (3756), and Ibn Hibban (5778), all of them from the hadith of Simak bin Harb, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, who related it. The wording is that of Abu Dawud. Its chain of transmission is hasan due to the discussion surrounding Simak's narration from Ikrima, except that it has been corroborated, as was detailed earlier in the Book of Knowledge, from which it became clear that he did not show inconsistency in this hadith.
