The Prophet ﷺ said, "A servant may speak a word that pleases Allah, giving it no thought, by which Allah raises him many degrees. And a servant may speak a word that angers Allah, giving it no thought, by which he plunges into Hell."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إن العبد ليتكلم بالكلمة من رضوان الله، لا يلقي لها بالا، يرفعه الله بها درجات، وإن العبد ليتكلم بالكلمة من سخط الله، لا يلقي لها بالا، يهوي بها في جهنم.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Raqaiq (6478) from Abdullah bin Munir, who heard Abu Nadr, who said, Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah, meaning Ibn Dinar, narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it.Malik narrated it in the Book of Speech (6) from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Abu Salih Samman, who informed him that Abu Hurairah said, and he mentioned it, stopping at him without attributing it to the Prophet.The ruling belongs to whoever raised it to the Prophet, even though Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Dinar is below Malik in memory and precision, because something like this would not be said merely on personal opinion.
