The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever takes my name shall not take my kunya, and whoever takes my kunya shall not take my name."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: من تسمى باسمي فلا يتكنى بكنيتي، ومن تكنى بكنيتي فلا يتسمى باسمي.
Abu Dawud (4966) and Ahmad (14357) both narrated it via Hisham (that is, Dastawai), from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, mentioning it as above. Tirmidhi (2842) and Ibn Hibban (5816) both narrated it via Husayn bin Waqid, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, similarly.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith from this angle." Its isnad is hasan because of Husayn bin Waqid Marwazi and his teacher Abu Zubayr.
