A man passed by the Prophet ﷺ while he was urinating and greeted him with salam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "When you see me in such a state, do not greet me with salam, for if you do, I will not return your greeting."
أن رجلا مر على النبي ﷺ وهو يبول، فسلم عليه، فقال له رسول الله ﷺ: إذا رأيتني على مثل هذه الحالة فلا تسلم علي؛ فإنك إن فعلت ذلك لم أرد عليك.
Ibn Majah (352) reported it, he said, Suwayd bin Saeed told us, Isa bin Yunus told us, from Hashim bin Bureid, from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, from Jabir, and he related it.Its chain is hasan. It contains the shaykh of Ibn Majah, who is truthful, even though Ibn Main spoke of him in the harshest terms, for he was not the sole transmitter of it. This is why Busiri said, "This chain is hasan, because Suwayd was not the sole transmitter of it, for he has a corroborator from Isa bin Yunus in the chain of Abu Yaala and others."I say, and by the route of Isa bin Yunus it was also reported by Ibn Adi in Al-Kamil (2574/7). Rather, the one who was the sole transmitter of it was Hashim bin Bureid, as Abu Hatim said in Al-Ilal (34/1), except that he is trustworthy, despite his excessiveness in Shiism, as Juzjani said, "He was excessive in the corruption of his creed." And Ibn Adi said in Al-Kamil (2574/7), "Hashim bin Bureid does not have much hadith, and what is mentioned of him is the excessiveness in Shiism, and likewise his son Ali. As for Hashim, in the measure of what he transmits I have not seen anything objectionable in his hadith. The objectionable matters occur in the hadith of his son, Ali bin Hashim."
