Abu Humayd came with a cup of milk from Naqi, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Why did you not cover it, even by laying a stick across it?"
جاء أبو حميد بقدح من لبن من النقيع، فقال له رسول الله ﷺ: ألا حمرته، ولو أن تعرض عليه عودا.
Narrated by Bukhari in the Book of Drinks (5605) and Muslim in the Book of Drinks (2011: 95), both through Jareer, from Amash, from Abu Sufyan and Abu Salih, from Jabir bin Abdullah, who said, so he mentioned it.It appears there is an abridgment here on the part of Jabir bin Abdullah, for he heard the story from Abu Humayd Saadi and abridged it in this chain of transmission.
