Abu Dawud (4825), Tirmidhi (2725), and Ahmad (20855) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (6432) graded it sahih. All of them narrated it through various routes from Sharik, from Simak bin Harb, from Jabir bin Samura, who said, then he related it. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan gharib, and Zuhayr bin Muawiya also narrated it from Simak." I say, it is as he said, for Sharik bin Abdullah Qadi is disputed, but Zuhayr bin Muawiya corroborated him as Tirmidhi said, except that I have not come across the narration of Zuhayr bin Muawiya.It was narrated from Abu Majliz that he said, a man sat in the middle of a circle. He said, Huzaifa said, "Cursed is the one who sits in the middle of the circle, according to the words of Muhammad ﷺ," and he said, "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed the one who sits in the middle of the circle." Abu Dawud (4826), Tirmidhi (2753), and Ahmad (23376) narrated it, all of them through various routes from Qatada, who said, Abu Majliz Lahiq bin Humayd narrated to me, then he related it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith." But it is not as he said, for Abu Majliz Lahiq bin Humayd did not meet Huzaifa and did not hear from him, as Shuba and Ibn Main said.His statement, "the one who sits in the middle of the circle," means the one who arrives late, steps over the necks of the people, then makes someone get up and sits in his place.
