Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Seeking Permission (6265), and Muslim in the Book of Prayer (402: 59), both from the hadith of Abu Naeem, who said, Sayf bin Sulayman told us, he said, I heard Mujahid say, Abdullah bin Sakhbarah told me, he said, I heard Ibn Masud say, then he related it.Bukhari mentioned, as a suspended report, "Hammad bin Zayd shook hands with Abdullah bin Mubarak, using both his hands." Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, first placed a chapter heading, Chapter on Handshaking, and mentioned under it the hadith of Ibn Masud, "and my palm was between his two palms," and the hadith of Umar bin Khattab, "while he was holding the hand of Umar bin Khattab." Then he placed another chapter heading, Chapter on Taking Hold with Both Hands, and mentioned under it the report of Hammad bin Zayd, and the hadith of Abdullah bin Masud, to show that it is permissible.However, shaking hands with both hands was not part of the sunnah customarily practiced by the Prophet ﷺ and his companions, except that there is no harm in doing so occasionally, to show that it is permissible.
