The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The rider greets the one walking, and the one walking greets the one sitting. When two are walking, whichever of them initiates the greeting is the more virtuous."
قال رسول الله ﷺ يسلم الراكب على الماشي، والماشي على القاعد، والماشيان أيهما بدأ فهو أفضل.
Bazzar narrated it in Kashf Astar (2006), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (498). Both narrated it via Abu Asim (who is Dahhak bin Makhlad), from Ibn Jurayj, who said, "Abu Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir say," and then he related it. Its chain is hasan because of Abu Zubayr, who is Muhammad bin Muslim bin Tadrus Makki, for his hadith is hasan. Some narrated it from Ibn Jurayj with the same wording but as a stopped report, and the ruling belongs to whoever raised it to the Prophet.
