Umar came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was in an upper chamber of his and said, "Peace be upon you, Messenger of Allah. Peace be upon you. May Umar enter?"
أنه أتى النبي ﷺ وهو في مشربة له فقال: السلام عليك يا رسول الله، السلام عليكم أيدخل عمر؟
Abu Dawud (5201) and Nasai in Kubra (10080) both narrated it through the route of Aswad bin Amir, who said, "Hasan bin Salih narrated to us, from his father, from Salama bin Kuhayl, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, from Umar," and he related it. Its isnad is sahih. Some have classified it among the narrations of Ibn Abbas, even though the story belongs to Umar, as in the narration of Ahmad (2756). The correct view is that it belongs to the narrations of Umar, as Mizzi stated in Tuhfat Ashraf (4/416).
