A man said, "Messenger of Allah, a certain woman is known for her abundant prayer, fasting, and charity, but she harms her neighbors with her tongue."He replied, "She is in the Fire."The man said, "Messenger of Allah, another woman is known for performing little fasting, charity, and prayer, but she gives small pieces of dried cheese in charity and does not harm her neighbors with her tongue."He replied, "She is in Paradise."
قال رجل: يا رسول الله إن فلانة يذكر من كثرة صلاتها وصيامها وصدقتها غير أنها تؤذي جيرانها بلسانها، قال: هي في النار، قال: يا رسول الله، فإن فلانة يذكر من قلة صيامها وصدقتها وصلاتها، وإنها تصدق بالأثوار من الأقط، ولا تؤذي جيرانها بلسانها، قال: هي في الجنة.
Ahmad (9675) narrated it, as did Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (119), and Ibn Hibban (5674) and Hakim (4/166) graded it sahih, all of them through routes going back to Amash, from Abu Yahya the freed slave of Jadah, from Abu Hurairah, who related it.Its chain is hasan because of Abu Yahya the freed slave of Jadah, for Ibn Main deemed him trustworthy, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in its chain."
