She said, "They claim that the Prophet ﷺ made a bequest to Ali. He called for a basin to relieve himself in, then he slumped over and passed away without my realizing it. So to whom did he make a bequest?"
قالت: يقولون: إن النبي ﷺ أوصى إلى علي، لقد دعا بالطست ليبول فيها، فانخنثت نفسه وما أشعر، فإلى من أوصى؟
Nasai (33) narrated it from Amr bin Ali, who said, Azhar informed us, who said, Ibn Awn informed us, from Ibrahim, from Aswad, from Ayesha, and she mentioned the hadith. Nasai said, Azhar is Ibn Saad the oil merchant. Its basis is found in the Sahihayn without her saying, "so that he could urinate in it."Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4459) from Abdullah bin Muhammad, from Azhar, with this wording, it was mentioned in the presence of Ayesha that the Prophet ﷺ had left a will appointing Ali as his successor. She said, "Who said that? I saw the Prophet ﷺ while I was supporting him against my chest. He called for the basin, then he slumped, and he died without my even realizing it. So how could he have left a will appointing Ali?"He also narrated it in the Book of Wills (2741), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Wills (1636), both of them through the route of Ismail bin Ulayyah, from Ibn Awn, with the same wording.Her word "he slumped" (inkhanatha), spelled with nun, then a khaa with a dot, then nun, then a thaa with three dots, means, as stated in al-Nihaya, that he became limp and bent over due to the relaxation of his limbs at the moment of death.
