The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock. The ruler set over the people is a shepherd over them and is responsible for them. A man is a shepherd over his household and is responsible for them. A woman is a shepherdess over her husband's house and his children and is responsible for them. A slave is a shepherd over his master's property and is responsible for it. So each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Manumission (2554), and Muslim in the Book of Leadership (1829), both of them through Yahya, from Ubaydullah, who said, "Nafi narrated to me, from Ibn Umar," and he mentioned it.
