The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The righteous slave receives a double reward. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Abu Hurairah, were it not for jihad in the path of Allah, the pilgrimage, and dutifulness to my mother, I would have loved to die as a slave."The narrator said, "It reached us that Abu Hurairah did not perform the pilgrimage until his mother died, because of his devotion to her companionship."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Manumission (2548), and Muslim in the Book of Oaths and Vows (1665:44), both from Ibn Wahb, who said, Yunus told me, from Ibn Shihab, who said, I heard Saeed bin Musayab say, Abu Hurairah said, and then he mentioned it.
