He heard a man ask Jabir about a man's servant, when he has spared him hardship and the heat, did the Prophet ﷺ command that he be invited to eat? Jabir replied, "Yes. If any of you dislikes eating with him, then let him hand him a morsel to eat."
أنه سمع رجلا يسأل جابرا عن خادم الرجل، إذا كفاه المشقة والحر، أمر النبي ﷺ أن يدعوه؟ قال: نعم، فإن كره أحدكم أن يطعم معه فليطعمه أكلة في يده.
Bukhari related it in Adab al-Mufrad (198) from Muhammad bin Salam, who said, Makhlad bin Yazid informed us, who said, Ibn Jurayj informed us, who said, Abu Zubayr informed me, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abu Zubayr, who is Muhammad bin Muslim bin Tadrus Makki, for his narration is hasan.Ahmad related it (14730) from Musa (that is, Ibn Dawud) from Ibn Lahia, from Abu Zubayr, who mentioned something similar. There is well known criticism of Ibn Lahia, but he is corroborated in the first chain of transmission.
